    As an elementary school-based School Social Worker or School Counselor in Tinley Park, Illinois, your days will include:
    • Provide individual, small-group, and school-wide counseling and social-emotional support to elementary-aged students.
    • Support students experiencing behavioral, emotional, social, or academic concerns that may affect school success.
    • Respond to student crises and assist with appropriate intervention, safety, and re-entry planning.
    • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and related service providers to coordinate student supports.
    • Participate in IEP, multidisciplinary, problem-solving, and student-support team meetings as appropriate.
    • Connect students and families with relevant school-based and community resources.
    • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with federal, state, school, and professional requirements.

     

    Job Details

    • Position: Leave-of-absence contract in an elementary school setting
    • Dates: August 20, 2026–December 22, 2026
    • Unpaid Break: November 23–27, 2026
    • Hours: 32.5 hours per week; Monday–Friday, 7:40 a.m.–2:40 p.m.
    • Lunch: 30-minute unpaid lunch
    • Caseload: Building-wide coverage

     

    Successful Candidates Possess

    • A Master’s Degree in Social Work, School Counseling, or a closely related field (required)
    • A valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with the appropriate School Social Worker or School Counselor endorsement (required)
    • Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and crisis-intervention skills
    • Experience supporting elementary-aged students (preferred)
    • The ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
    • Note: new graduates may be considered
