Education and Experience

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, or similar field, with required successful clinical experience
  • Master of Social Work Degree preferred
  • Hold and maintain current licensure in Social Work, or other similar field, in the State of Indiana
  • Hold and maintain registration with Indiana Professional License Agency
  • Possess a basic knowledge of special education laws and regulations and can follow developed procedures

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Conducts bio-psychosocial assessments and social histories
  • Assesses students for substance use, support systems, physical and emotional functioning, barriers to academic performance, peer issues, suicidal/homicidal ideation, and similar issues
  • Develops and implements behavior intervention plans and counseling treatment plans that support student self-determination
  • Teaches students replacement behaviors for identified maladaptive behaviors
  • Teaches classroom lessons on social and emotional well-being and other topics relevant to students
  • Practices coping skills with students for personal and psychological issues that affect their school performance, behavior, and socialization
  • Provides direct therapeutic services such as individual, family group therapy regarding specific issues
  • Provides crisis management services, including assessing for safety
  • Advocates for student services and students' best interests
  • Provides case management services including, but not limited to, referrals to community resources, collaboration with other professionals, and family support options
  • Provides trainings and workshops to teachers, school staff and parents
  • Conducts home visits
  • Identifies and resolves ethical issues
  • Contributes to a multidisciplinary team assessment
  • Maintains case files and reports to track student progress and recognize patterns to behavior
  • Participates in Case Conferences for students receiving counseling or social worker services
  • Contributes to team evaluations for psycho-social input
  • Contributes to the school Positive Approach to Behavior Intervention Systems
  • Coaches teams within buildings through approaches to support student success
  • Performs other job duties as assigned or needed for school or student IEP needs

Terms of Employment:

185 Days: Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications

Benefits determined by the Teacher Collective Bargaining Agreement.
