Social Studies Teacher - Grade 6

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be Wisconsin DPI certified as an elementary teacher 1-9 or certified to teach grades 6-8 in the content areas of social studies. The ability to teach multiple subjects is preferred.
• An emphasis in or experience teaching mathematics is required.
• Implements Common Core State Standards, as well as its recommendations for classroom instruction and assessment.
• Must be familiar with the use of technology in teaching.
• Shows evidence that effective instructional strategies are used to ensure student success in mathematics, reading, and writing.
• Must be willing to take an active role in curriculum development, professional development, and data analysis.
• Effectively implements components of adolescent literacy in social studies classrooms.
• The successful candidate will be able to co-plan and co-serve to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Preference will be given to those candidates with an Elementary/Middle School experience

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to work well as part of a team. Applicants must show an understanding of and ability to work with the unique needs of the middle school student. Must have the ability to increase the motivation and interest of students. Must be able to demonstrate appropriate use of a wide variety of instructional strategies including assessment. Must demonstrate the effective use of data to increase student learning.
