The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a Student Office Assistant to support the Academic Coordinator for the Social Sciences, which include Communication & Media, Psychological Sciences, Sociology & Social Work, and Political Science & Global Affairs. This role involves a combination of administrative tasks, campus errands, and other assigned duties to help keep department operations running smoothly. Familiarity with Canva, Microsoft Office Suite, and Cascade is preferred. This worker will report to and work closely with the Academic Coordinator for the Social Sciences.

Core Duties

  • Assist with Core Database updates.
  • Assist with proofreading and updating website content for Social Science Departments.
  • Occasionally respond to faculty emails from shared email inbox.
  • Occasionally stock and organize supply rooms for Social Science departments.
  • Tidy and perform light cleaning of supply areas to maintain order and cleanliness.
  • Maintain and update departmental bulletin boards.
  • Run errands across campus as needed.
  • Assist faculty and staff with special projects and general office support.
  • Respond to printer and copier issues.
  • Submit work orders.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Reliable
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional attitude.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with professors and campus staff.
  • Familiarity with campus locations.
  • Website content management skills.
  • College of Arts and Sciences majors preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Transportation of department mail including packages.
  • This will require walking long distances and lifting 10 or more pounds.
