Social Media Strategist

Build the Future of an Iconic Brand. Inspire the Next Generation of Problem Solvers.

At Leatherman, we build tools that help people take on the expected—and the unexpected. For more than 40 years, we've earned the trust of tradespeople, makers, outdoor enthusiasts, first responders, and everyday problem-solvers around the world.

Now we're looking for a Social Media Strategist to help tell that story.

This is not a traditional social media role.

We're seeking a strategic, data-driven marketer who understands how to turn social media into a powerful growth engine. Someone who can blend creativity with analytics, brand building with customer acquisition, and emerging trends with measurable business results.

If you're energized by testing new ideas, building communities, partnering with influencers, and using social platforms to drive real business impact, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

As Leatherman's Social Media Strategist, you'll own the strategic direction and performance of our paid, owned, and earned social media channels.

You'll be responsible for:

Driving Growth

  • Develop and execute social media strategies that drive customer acquisition, engagement, revenue, and long-term brand growth
  • Own social media performance across Meta, TikTok, and emerging platforms
  • Manage channel budgets and optimize investments to maximize ROI, customer acquisition, and brand impact
  • Lead paid social strategy including audience targeting, creative testing, campaign optimization, and performance analysis

Building Community & Brand

  • Grow and engage Leatherman's social communities through compelling content and authentic storytelling
  • Develop social-first content strategies and editorial plans in partnership with Brand Marketing and Content teams
  • Help ensure Leatherman shows up as the most useful brand in the world across every social touchpoint
  • Identify opportunities to amplify organic reach, audience growth, and customer engagement

Leading Influencer & Affiliate Strategy

  • Recruit, manage, and grow relationships with influencers, creators, ambassadors, and affiliate partners
  • Develop partnership strategies that align with brand goals and deliver measurable results
  • Manage content briefing, product seeding, performance tracking, and contract negotiations

Innovating for the Future

  • Stay ahead of platform trends, algorithm changes, social commerce, AI-powered marketing tools, and emerging channels
  • Test new ideas, challenge assumptions, and identify opportunities to reach the next generation of Leatherman customers
  • Use data and insights to continuously improve performance and inform future strategy

What Makes You Successful

You're equal parts strategist, storyteller, analyst, and innovator.

You thrive when you:

  • Turn insights into action
  • Balance creativity with business results
  • Take calculated risks and learn from experimentation
  • Use data to make smarter decisions
  • Stay curious about emerging technology and consumer behavior
  • Build meaningful relationships internally and externally
  • Take ownership and accountability for outcomes

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of social media marketing experience with a proven track record supporting DTC or retail brands
  • Deep expertise in Meta, TikTok, and paid social advertising
  • Experience developing social strategies that drive measurable business results
  • Proven success managing influencer and affiliate partnerships
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with Google Analytics, Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads Manager, and attribution reporting
  • Strong understanding of the marketing funnel and social media's role in demand generation
  • Experience managing budgets and making data-driven investment decisions

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with social commerce and live shopping
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve marketing performance and efficiency
  • Experience working with outdoor, lifestyle, consumer products, tools, EDC, or enthusiast brands
  • A passion for creating content that inspires people to get out, build, fix, create, and solve problems

About the Company

L

Leatherman Tool Group, Inc

Out here in Oregon, we are used to getting things done you could call it our pioneering spirit.  It's why Leatherman Tool Group is proud to support U.S. workers who, just like our founder Tim Leatherman, are dedicated to the quality craftsmanship that goes into each of our original American multi-tools.

After spending his childhood in Oregon, Tim Leatherman stayed local and received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University. A low-budget, post-college trip abroad, which included many fix-it situations, convinced Tim of the need for a pliers based multi-purpose tool.

Once back home in the states, Tim set to work developing his idea. On July 5, 1983 Leatherman Tool Group, Inc. was officially incorporated based on a few simple principles: manufacture quality products that deliver excellent value to the consumer while providing good, living-wage jobs to the local workforce.  More than thirty years later we are still going strong in the U.S., in our home town of Portland, Oregon.

Every multi-tool and knife we make is crafted by one of the 600 Oregonians who call Leatherman a great place to work, and we stand behind our products with a no-questions-asked 25 year warranty.  When asked about the company's devotion to quality, Tim always replies, it has to be perfect; my name is on every tool.

We are proud to live and work in the USA and it shows in every original multi-tool and knife we make.  Leatherman.  Leave nothing undone.
