The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for managing, producing, and publishing content across the institution's official social media platforms to support brand awareness, engagement, recruitment, and institutional reputation. This position develops platform-appropriate multimedia content - particularly short-form video - coordinates publishing and analytics workflows and provides governance and guidance for department-level social media channels to ensure alignment with institutional standards, accessibility requirements, and communication goals.\n \nAbout the institution:\n \nNevada State University, a four-year Minority Serving public institution with a statewide mission, is dedicated to excellence in teaching and learning and committed to the advancement of a diverse and largely underserved student population. In order to strengthen the university and progress its mission, the university dedicates itself to intentional and ongoing reflection to meeting the evolving needs of Nevada State University, the surrounding communities, and the State of Nevada.\n \nWe seek applicants who are passionate about working with this promising student population and collaborating with faculty and staff across departments to make a lasting impact in developing our institution and our community. \n \nWe encourage you to highlight your background in fostering an inclusive campus culture and supporting the success of students who are historically underrepresented in higher education.\n \nPrimary Responsibilities:\n\n Produce, edit, and publish multimedia content including short-form video, photography, graphics, and written copy for the institution's official social media channels.\n Manage day-to-day operations of institutional social media accounts, including monitoring comments and messages, responding appropriately, and escalating sensitive or high-risk issues as needed.\n Meet with internal and external community members to gather content, fulfill project requests, attend events for content capture, and support cross-departmental initiatives.\n Collaborate with Marketing & Events, Development & Alumni, Admissions & Recruitment, and other campus stakeholders to support campaigns, initiatives, and annual communication cycles.\n \nRequired Qualifications:\n\n Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, or a related field.\n Minimum of one (1) year of experience.\n Deep and demonstrated understanding of social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok.\n Proven, professional track record in development of social media marketing strategies and programs.\n Experience with copywriting and editing to ensure accurate and engaging copy that matches tone, look, and voice in accordance with our style guide.\n Experience capturing photos and videos for use on social media.\n Knowledge of accessibility and implementation in social media, including video captioning.\n Experience using social media monitoring tools.\n Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite products (Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn.\n Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).\n \nPlease note: Applicants must meet the posted minimum qualifications at the time of application in order to be considered for the position.\n \nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n Creative expertise on the technical aspects of social media marketing, execution and development including application knowledge.\n Experience building online interaction among students, instructors, and community organizations/members.\n Knowledge of digital marketing.\n \nSalary & Benefits:\n \nBudgeted salary for this position is $54,285.
