Position Overview:

The Office of the Dean, School of the Arts and Communication is seeking candidates for Social Media Assistant. The Social Media Assistant will be responsible for the management of the SOAC social media calendar and the development of content for the School of the Arts and Communication social media accounts, ensuring posts meet TCNJ brand standards. The ideal candidate will take ownership over projects from start to finish, and will be comfortable liaising with school and community partners and vendors as needed. The Social Media intern may be asked to cover events outside of standard working hours. When not engaged in social media projects, the Social Media Assistant will provide general office and event support to the Dean''s Office. This may include quantitative and research projects at the discretion of the Dean; special event set up and break down, and other responsibilities.

  • Develop content for the School of the Arts and Communication social media accounts, for Instagram and Facebook, ensuring posts meet TCNJ brand standards.

  • Manage weekly takeovers on Instagram featuring ArtsComm students.

  • Monitor TCNJ social media accounts and reshare relevant content on the main School for the Arts and Communication channels.

  • Manage the social media calendar.

  • Reach out to faculty, staff, students and alumni for social media content ideas.

  • Document events, including photos and video, via social media posts and stories.

  • Participate in weekly meetings to review assignments and deadlines, discuss creative content, pitch ideas, and troubleshoot projects.

  • Proficient in Canva and/or Adobe Express.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work with SOAC Dean''s Office and faculty/staff partners within the school to develop content for the School of the Arts and Communication social media accounts

  • Manage weekly takeovers on Instagram featuring ArtsComm students

  • Monitor TCNJ social media accounts and reshare relevant content on the main School for the Arts and Communication channels.

  • Manage the social media calendar

  • Reach out to faculty, staff, students and alumni for social media content ideas.

  • Document events, including photos and video, via social media posts and stories.

  • Produce drafts of requested materials and respond to feedback and revise

  • Ensure all projects meet TCNJ brand standards

  • Respond to questions and requests for changes

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn to prepare content for web and print marketing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Communications major preferred

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and Adobe Express

  • Experience with developing content in response to customer needs
