Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct, hands-on behavioral support and implements individualized behavior intervention plans for students under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Additionally, they collaborate with classroom teachers and special education staff to ensure that interventions support the academic, social, and adaptive needs of all students within an inclusive environment.
- Behavior Plan Implementation: Accurately implement individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and skill acquisition programs designed by the supervising BCBA to reduce challenging behaviors and promote functional skills.
- Direct Student Support: Provide side-by-side behavioral support to students in general education and special education settings, facilitating access to core instruction and reinforcing positive behavior strategies.
- Data Collection & Documentation: Maintain detailed, consistent, and robust daily data collection on targeted behavioral metrics and progress toward Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals; assist the BCBA in analyzing behavioral trends.
- Collaboration & Classroom Integration: Work in partnership with general education teachers, special education teachers, and paraeducators to seamlessly integrate behavior support strategies into classroom routines and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) frameworks.
- Crisis Intervention: Safely implement district-approved crisis prevention, de-escalation, and physical intervention protocols when necessary, ensuring student safety and maintaining the least restrictive environment.
- Skill Generalization: Encourage and support students in generalizing social, emotional, and communication skills across various school environments (e.g., classrooms, cafeteria, recess).
A successful candidate will be:
Currently certified as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and have experience implementing behavioral strategies with students in a public school setting.
