Behavior Specialist

Description: South Windsor Public Schools is seeking a Behavior Specialist to help build and sustain a positive relationship among students and between students and staff members. Under the direct supervision of the building administration, the specialist will provide intervention services through the following roles and responsibilities:
South Windsor is a diverse community of approximately 27,000 citizens and more than 5,100 public school students. The district values this diversity, and has worked to create a districtwide culture of equity and social consciousness. SWPS is comprised of four elementary schools, one middle school (6-8), and one high school (9-12), all of which cultivate and support culturally responsive classrooms and learning communities. The ongoing work of our teachers and staff includes the creation of enriching experiences that expand the depth of knowledge for students beyond today's classroom in order to produce graduates with the 21st century skills needed to make them college or career ready.
Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have previous experience working in a school setting. A bachelor's degree in education, social services, or related field is required. Training or experience in counseling is preferred.
Schedule: Work year will consist of a total of 210 days. These days will consist of all student attendance days (182), all professional development days (4), and an additional twenty-four (24) days to be scheduled in collaboration with the administration at South Windsor High School to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
