KMC Controls, Inc., a leader in innovative building automation and control solutions, is seeking a skilled SMT Process Technician to join our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) team. This position plays a key role in supporting our SMT operations, ensuring the quality and efficiency of our electronic assembly processes.

What You'll Do

As an SMT Process Technician, you will:

  • Program and optimize SMT equipment, including pick-and-place machines, screen printers, reflow ovens, automated optical inspection (AOI), and conveyors.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced SMT machine issues such as part picking, orientation, fiducials, tray/pick adjustments, and nozzle/vacuum errors.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, including feeder and nozzle upkeep.
  • Assist in New Product Introduction (NPI), prototypes, and manufacturability reviews.
  • Train and support SMT operators to ensure consistency and best practices.
  • Drive process improvements to reduce cycle times, increase yields, and improve product quality.

Position Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • A High School diploma or GED is required, An associate degree in a technical field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on SMT experience in programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Experience training operators and improving SMT processes strongly is preferred.
  • Ability to solder circuit boards and use small hand/power tools is required.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with SMT equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP systems; SMT programming software experience a plus.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Regular standing, walking, and manual work with tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Work near moving equipment with moderate noise levels.
