Your day on the waterfront
Sunup to wrap-up, you turn steel into structure. You design, fabricate, repair, and maintain metal sheet structures on rigs, ships, and barges across industrial and marine sites such as shipyards and waterfront facilities. Using stick welding (SMAW), you move confidently between fitting, aligning, and welding heavy components while safeguarding people, equipment, and product integrity.
What you will handle
- Lay down strong SMAW welds to fabricate or repair crane buckets, ship holds, barges, and industrial machinery components
- Interpret blueprints, work orders, and production schedules to plan work and sequence tasks
- Inspect, measure, test, and fine-tune welds and assemblies to meet spec and quality targets
- Assemble, align, clamp, and fit parts before welding or heat treatment
- Set up, operate, and care for welders, torches, grinders, and related tools
- Heat, grind, burn, and fit metal using appropriate hand and power tools
- Monitor welds and fits to avoid overheating or material distortion
- Fabricate and fit substrates as required
- Keep work areas orderly and safe in full compliance with safety policies
- Complete documentation accurately and on time
- Pitch in with additional duties as assigned
