Skilled Manual Mill Operator

We are currently seeking high-quality candidates for a Skilled Manual Mill Operator position in Youngstown, Ohio. If you have experience with milling operations and enjoy working in a manufacturing environment, we want to hear from you.

This role is based at a local steel mill where you'll operate and adjust milling machines to produce precise metal parts. You'll work with blueprints, cutting tools, and measuring instruments to ensure products meet specifications. 12:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Pay
$17.00 - $21.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Position and secure workpieces on machines, using holding devices, measuring instruments, hand tools, and hoists.
  • Remove workpieces from machines and check to ensure they conform to specifications, using microscopes, gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Verify alignment of workpieces on machines with measuring instruments.
  • Move cutters or materials manually or by turning handwheels and engage automatic feeding mechanisms to mill workpieces to specifications.
  • Monitor gauges, dials, and indicators to ensure proper machine operation.
  • Study machining instructions, blueprints, and job orders to meet dimensional and finish requirements.
  • Change worn cutting tools and select/set cutting speeds, feed rates, and depths according to instructions and metal properties.
  • Install tools in spindles and control operations to produce quality parts.
  • Monitor the performance of machinery and make adjustments as needed to prevent flaws.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed on-site, including wearing personal protective gear and responding quickly to sounds or dangers.
  • Lift up to 70 lbs as required.

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year of Manual Mill experience
  • Experience with hand tools and measuring instruments
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking
  • Basic organizational skills and multitasking ability

Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience with gauges, micrometers, calipers, telescoping gauges, and cutting tools
  • Manufacturing or steel mill experience

Preferred Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Prior machining or manufacturing experience

Other Requirements
  • Must respond quickly to sounds and observe safety procedures
  • Ability to work on-site and lift up to 70 lbs
