This position is primarily focused on commercial and residential service work, with opportunities to assist on commercial construction, tenant upfits, remodels, and new construction projects as workload requires.
What You’ll Do
As a Service Electrician, you’ll be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical systems while providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities include:
- Diagnose and repair electrical problems in commercial and residential facilities.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, panels, switches, outlets, and equipment.
- Perform service upgrades, remodels, tenant upfits, and preventative maintenance.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical plans.
- Measure, bend, thread, and install conduit including EMT, Rigid, PVC, and MC cable.
- Pull wire, terminate panels, install devices, lighting, fixtures, and electrical equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues quickly and accurately while explaining solutions to customers.
- Complete work in compliance with NEC, local codes, and company quality standards.
- Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate material needs to supervisors.
- Work safely while using ladders, lifts, and other equipment when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized work vehicle and personal tool inventory.
- Collaborate with office staff, project managers, and fellow electricians to complete work efficiently.
- Represent Ogburn Electric professionally with customers, inspectors, contractors, and vendors.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for professionals with solid ethics who care about quality craftsmanship, customer service, and teamwork.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Minimum 3 years of electrical experience in commercial, residential, or industrial environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience with commercial service work preferred.
- Experience with new construction, remodels, and tenant upfits is a plus.
- Ability to install and terminate electrical equipment with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency bending and installing conduit (EMT, Rigid, PVC, MC).
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- Commitment to safety and attention to detail.
- Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, work from lifts, crawl, squat, bend, and work in varying weather conditions.
- Must provide and maintain standard electrician hand tools.
