Position Title: Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)

We are seeking an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to lead all on-site safety efforts for a federally funded construction project. This position is full-time and site-dedicated, with responsibility for enforcing compliance with EM 385-1-1, 29 CFR 1926, and the project-specific Accident Prevention Plan. The SSHO has full authority to stop work for safety concerns and may not serve dual roles (e.g., QC Manager or Superintendent).
Implement and manage the safety program in line with EM 385-1-1 standards
Conduct daily safety briefings, site inspections, and hazard analyses
Monitor compliance across all trades and subcontractors
Maintain all required documentation and reporting
Liaise with federal safety reps and project leadership
5+ years of construction safety experience on similar federal projects (3–4 years acceptable with a safety degree or certification)
Prior SSHO experience under EM 385-1-1 is required
OSHA 30-Hour (Construction or General Industry)
40-Hour EM 385-1-1 course completed
Ongoing safety training (e.g., 8-hour refresher or 24 hours every 3 years)
Strong knowledge of excavation, fall protection, confined space, LOTO, PPE, and hazard control
