Job Title: Site Safety and Health OfficerJob DescriptionThis full-time Site Safety and Health Officer position oversees and manages a comprehensive safety and health program across construction sites and offices. The role supports all trade partners and collaborates closely with the project team to develop, implement, and continuously improve an effective safety culture. The Safety Manager conducts training, monitors compliance, investigates incidents, and ensures that safety standards meet federal, client, and industry requirements.Responsibilities* Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of construction sites and offices to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvement.* Manage and administer the company's Safety and Health Program, including policies, procedures, and site-specific safety plans.* Plan, develop, and deliver safety training for client personnel and trade partners, ensuring understanding and adherence to safety standards.* Reinforce and promote a strong safety culture by engaging with field teams, supervisors, and trade partners on safe work practices.* Track, analyze, and report leading and lagging safety indicators to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.* Lead and document incident investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up to prevent recurrence.* Maintain accurate and detailed safety records, reports, and documentation in accordance with federal, contractual, and company requirements.* Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and trade partners to integrate safety into planning, scheduling, and daily operations.* Provide on-site safety guidance and support during field activities, including high-risk tasks such as fall protection and critical lifts.* Communicate effectively with English- and Spanish-speaking personnel to explain safety requirements and expectations.* Use Microsoft Office, BlueBeam, and other software tools to prepare safety reports, presentations, and documentation.* Support compliance with EM385 and other federal construction safety requirements for applicable projects.* Coordinate with quality control and CQC personnel on federal projects to align safety and quality requirements.* Drive continuous improvement in the safety program by sharing best practices and lessons learned across projects.Essential Skills* Minimum of five (5)+ years of experience in a safety role, preferably in construction environments.* Demonstrated experience managing or supporting a comprehensive safety and health program on active job sites.* Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to influence behavior and resolve conflict effectively.* Excellent listening skills and the ability to produce detailed, accurate safety documentation and reports.* Ability to understand industry-relevant Spanish to communicate safety requirements to diverse crews.* CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) certification required.* OSHA 30-hour certification required.* CPR certification required.* EM385 certification required, with working knowledge of EM385-1-1 safety standards.* Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and BlueBeam.* Comfort using various software tools to track safety metrics and prepare documentation.* Valid driver's license required for travel between job sites and offices.* Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance for federal projects, as required.* Solid understanding of construction safety practices, including fall protection, first aid, and OSHA safety standards.* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with project teams and trade partners.Additional Skills & Qualifications* Experience in construction safety for federal construction projects is highly beneficial.* CQC (Contractor Quality Control) experience preferred, especially on USACE and NAVFAC projects.* Familiarity with USACE (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) and NAVFAC (Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command) safety and quality requirements.* OSHA 500 or advanced OSHA safety training is a plus.* Experience working within EM385-driven environments and federal construction safety programs.* Background in developing and delivering safety training programs for diverse audiences.* Demonstrated ability to track leading and lagging indicators and use data to drive safety improvements.* Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.* Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development in construction safety and health.Work EnvironmentThis role is primarily on site and in person, with regular presence required at active construction sites and company offices. The position operates during normal business hours, typically 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with potential flexibility as project needs arise. The work environment involves collaboration with project teams, trade partners, and field personnel in both office and field settings, including federal construction sites governed by EM385 and other federal safety standards.
