Description: Benefits Questions Summary of Duties Responsible for the supervision and oversight of students enrolled in the Rhodes State Respiratory Care Program at Ohio Health. This role includes teaching and supporting student learning, maintaining accurate academic records, and delivering engaging instruction in both laboratory and clinical settings. Additional responsibilities include course preparation, student assessment, and ensuring compliance with departmental and institutional policies, procedures, and deadlines.
Duties & Responsibilities
Instructional Teach in laboratory and clinical formats. Instructional schedules may include both daytime and evening hours. Prepare, set up, and deliver laboratory instruction at the satellite location in alignment with the approved course outline, College's educational philosophy, Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) Standards, and in collaboration with course lead faculty. Provide classroom instruction in a courteous and professional manner, following the curriculum developed by the Base Program at James A. Rhodes State College, and cultivate a learning environment that is conducive to student success and consistent with accepted educational practices. Provide academic support and guidance to satellite students to promote learning, engagement, and academic success. Assist the course lead instructor in administering assignments, examinations, clinical evaluations, and projects designed by the Base Program to assess student academic performance. Evaluate student work and provide timely feedback to support learning and continuous improvement. Assign final course grades in collaboration with the Base Program course instructor, ensuring grades accurately reflect student performance, and submit grades in a timely manner for inclusion in official student records. Utilize the College's learning management system (Canvas) to support course delivery, manage attendance, and maintain grades in collaboration with course lead faculty. Maintain accurate, current records of student progress and attendance. Submit final grades and all required reports and documentation in accordance with established deadlines and institutional requirements.
Advising Serve as a professional role model for students by demonstrating appropriate conduct, communication, and professional dress consistent with College standards. Enforce the College's Student Code of Conduct within the classroom and clinical/laboratory settings, including expectations related to dress code and professional behavior. Serve as the initial advisor for satellite students by addressing concerns related to academic performance, conduct, and grievances. Refer unresolved issues to the appropriate Instructor or Program Coordinator (Director (PD)) and collaborate in the resolution of student concerns as needed.
Administrative Ensure that the educational experiences provided at the satellite site are equivalent in quality, rigor, and outcomes to those of the Base Program. Maintain consistent and effective communication with the PD and the Director of Clinical Education (DCE), including appropriate documentation of all substantive contacts. Participate in faculty meetings with the Base Program as required. Review and recommend revisions to textbooks, reference materials, and instructional resources, and participate on an ongoing basis in the development, evaluation, and revision of course and program curricula, instructional methods, and program objectives consistent with the Program's philosophy. Assist with the recruitment and screening of prospective students. Attend biannual Advisory Committee meetings. Provide end-of-term course assessment data to course lead faculty in accordance with program and institutional requirements.
Professional Development Maintain current knowledge and competency in the field of specialization through participation in workshops, in-service training, professional meetings, conferences, and continuing education activities.
Additional Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director (PD) or Director of Clinical Education (DCE) in support of departmental and institutional goals.

Education & Certifications Required:
Associate Degree in Respiratory Care. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Current Ohio License to practice Respiratory Care. Two or more years experience in the practice of Respiratory Care. Preferred: Prior teaching experience. Bachelors Degree in Respiratory Care or related field.
Employee of Ohio Health. This position is not eligible for Rhodes State College benefits with the exception of a STRS or OPERS contribution.
