Coordinates operational aspects of the simulation labs within the School of Nursing including equipment, technology, supplies, and simulation processes and procedures. Collaborates closely with faculty and staff to support and maintain high-quality simulation and skills based learning experiences.
This is a reduced full-time exempt position with full-time hours throughout the academic year (August - May) and reduced hours during break (holidays) and summer
Basic responsibilities
Coordinate day to day activities and services for the simulation labs within the School of Nursing.
Maintain equipment, supplies, and technology within the labs.
Assist with achieving standards for best practice in simulation.
Create, maintain, upgrade, and supervise the Standard Operating Procedures and associated work instructions of the labs.
Maintain an active role in supporting faculty, staff, students, and the department.
Position requires flexibility in work hours to support program sessions, special events, and departmental initiatives. The weekly schedule will be adjusted as necessary to accommodate early mornings or evenings

Essential Duties
Coordinate day to day activities and services for the simulation labs within the School of Nursing.
Collaborates with appropriate individuals for scheduling use of simulation labs and nursing skills labs
Set up and break down of simulation equipment and scenarios
Schedule and organize special events
Maintain the labs to promote a positive image
Maintain equipment, supplies, and technology within the labs
Maintain departmental supplies and oversee inventory to support ongoing and future activities
Completes a semi-annual inventory
Communicate supply and inventory needs for ordering
Assist with software upgrades and interface with ACU’s Information Technology and Networking departments and vendor technology/support
Maintain simulation multimedia equipment, software, and hardware
Perform simple repairs and maintenance of equipment to keep them in good working order
Communicate with vendor support to address equipment issues
Maintain computers and assigned software within the labs
Assist with achieving standards for best practice for simulation
Assist faculty with meeting best practice standards for simulation
Consistent communication with course faculty to ensure simulations are meeting objectives
Assists faculty in the development, implementation, evaluation, and refinement of scenarios for simulation experiences and lab activities
Evaluate and improve simulation procedures in alignment with the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL)
Comply with accreditation and regulation requirements for simulation
Create, maintain, upgrade, and supervise the Standard Operating Procedures and associated work instructions of the labs.
Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for the correct and safe use of labs and equipment
Update procedures and instructions for lab and equipment use
Orient students, faculty, and staff to the simulation labs and associated policies, procedures, and instructions
Maintain an active role in supporting faculty, staff, students, and the department.
Assist faculty with the use of simulation technology
Provide assistance to students in the simulation lab in accordance with knowledge and educational level
Develop and maintain competence in simulation
Actively participate in departmental meetings
Actively participate in recruiting efforts for the department
Maintain electronic and physical databases of simulations
Professional Development requirements
Skills
Strong computer skills including the ability to troubleshoot
Ability to work with Microsoft Suite of Products, Adobe products, simulation software, audiovisual software, network, and IT environments
Experience working with simulation equipment and technology preferred
Training required
Gaumard equipment and technology training
Laerdal simulator training
Google suite
Software training
Ability to learn ACU systems, including, but not limited to: Expense reporting system(s); Workday
Qualifications
Professional:
Associates or Bachelor’s (preferred) degree in Nursing
Active, unencumbered RN license to practice nursing in the state of Texas
At least three years of RN experience, with medical-surgical experience preferred
Certification in simulation preferred
Experience in simulation preferred

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Physical:
Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 30 pounds on a regular basis
Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, or reaching for extended periods of time
Ability to work a flexible schedule (early mornings, late evenings, and possible weekends may be required)
