Summary: Celebrate Christmas by being a part of our NEW Stars, Lights & Christmas Nights Parade™ Float Drivers will operate a float using a joy-con control system while sitting in an extremely enclosed space with a limited view of the drive path. We are looking for safety-conscious applicants who are comfortable operating electronic controls and have no problem following signals and directions from a float handler. Attention to detail, situational awareness, and the ability to safely navigate the float route are essential.

This is a Seasonal position with evening hours.

This position begins 10/23/2026 and ends 1/2/2027.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Operate and maneuver a parade float along the parade route using a joy-con control system while monitoring surroundings for any obstacles, hazards, or individuals that may impact the safe movement of the float.
  • Follow all safety and security procedures; promptly identify and report unsafe conditions.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail while responding appropriately to directions, requests, and changing parade route conditions
  • Use sound judgement, common sense, and understanding to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Effectively address routine operational challenges involving multiple variables in a standardized environment.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skill and adaptability while operating the float safely.
  • Communicate respectfully with team members, handlers, participants and guests while upholding organizational values.
  • Participate in rehearsals, route reviews, and blocking as directed by the director or designated leadership.
  • Remain alert, professional, and focused throughout rehearsals and performances to help ensure a safe and enjoyable guest experience.

Required Skills

  • Able to operate a Joy-Con system.
  • Able to communicate efficiently.

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • The ability to climb up and down stairs, ladders, and uneven or sloped surfaces safely and repeatedly.
  • The ability to crawl, crouch, kneel, and maneuver through tight or confined spaces to enter, exit and operate parade floats and related equipment.
  • The ability to remember locations, maintain situational awareness, and understand and carry out written and verbal instructions continuously.
  • The ability to work continuously in cramped or enclosed quarters with limited visibility and restricted movement.
  • The ability to work continuously in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and precipitation.
  • The ability to work continuously at a rapid pace while maintaining attention to safety and operational requirements.

Required Experience:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Work Environment:

This role takes place primarily outdoors in a parade setting and is subject to varying weather conditions including cold, rain, and wind. Work hours are during the evening and nighttime, and then environment includes bright lights, amplified music, and large crowds. The float driver operated in an extremely candied and enclosed float cab with limited visibility and minimal ventilation. The pace can be fast and requires high attention to detail, strong situational awareness, and a focus on safety always. Teamwork, communication and reliability are essential to ensure seamless and enjoyable guest experience.
