Signal Processing Engineer - Entry Level

Folio Photonics is developing next-generation multilayer optical storage technology designed to dramatically increase the capacity and durability of data storage systems.
We are seeking entry-level engineers interested in working on challenging problems involving signal processing, detection algorithms, and high-density data storage systems.
This role focuses on developing the data channel and signal detection pipeline for an optical storage system.
Responsibilities
- Develop signal processing algorithms for optical data detection
- Model and simulate communication channels and noise sources
- Implement detection algorithms and data recovery pipelines
- Develop and test DSP algorithms in MATLAB, Python, or C/C++
- Work closely with hardware, optics, and firmware engineers
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- Coursework in one or more of the following:
- Digital Signal Processing
- Digital Communications
- Information Theory
- Error Correction Coding
- Detection and Estimation
Preferred Skills
- MATLAB or Python modeling
- C/C++ programming
- knowledge of DSP pipelines
- experience with FPGA or embedded systems
