This position maintains regulatory compliance documentation and applies electrical engineering principles throughout design, construction,and maintenance activities.Job Responsibilities Provides design and engineering support needed to design, construct, and maintain Metro's signals and communication systems, including all Agency fiber optic systems.Reviews and creates signal and communication system designs to ensure compliance with operational and safety requirements.Serves as the signals and communication engineering representative for major project extensions and system expansions.Creates, updates, and revises Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawings to support engineering and construction activities.Develops and manages signals and communication projects from specification development, cost estimating, resource planning, and scheduling through project closeout.Writes, reviews, updates, and maintains design criteria, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other technical documentation.Creates, updates, and files regulatory documentation for railroad grade crossings to maintain compliance with applicable standards.Evaluates project specifications and designs and recommends appropriate vendor products and equipment.Manages and monitors daily Missouri One-Call System and Illinois Joint Utility LocatingInformation for Excavators (JULIE) system notifications to support safe field activities.Monitors maintenance programs using databases, inspection and test data, and material usage records.Serves as the technical representative for signals and communication systems in support of internal and external stakeholders.Supports Metro's Safety Program through engineering practices, compliance activities, and operational coordination.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrates knowledge of engineering practices required to design, build, inspect, and maintain transit and railroad signal and communication systems. Experience in PLC and redundant safety sensitive systems preferred.Demonstrates knowledge of railroad and rail transit operations and related safety requirements.Applies experience in Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), surveying, and cost estimating to support engineering and project needs. Experience with AutoCAD preferred.Utilizes personal computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and projectmanagement software, to complete assigned responsibilities.Reviews specifications, drawings, and contract documents to ensure accuracy, compliance, and constructability.Performs life-cycle cost analysis to support long-term asset and project decision-making.Applies experience in project management of rail systems projects, including cost estimating, resource planning, scheduling, and cost control.Manages employees, contractors, and consultants engaged in the design, construction, testing, and implementation of rail systems.Develops, evaluates, and reviews rail system specifications, criteria, and engineering plans to meet operational and regulatory standards.Communicates effectively both orally and in writing with internal departments, external agencies, and project stakeholdersCompensation 84,750.00 - 98,875.00 (Annually)Employment Type Full TimeLocation Missouri Yards And ShopsEducation B.S./B.A. Required.Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field.Experience Minimum Five Years (5).Minimum of (5) three years of related professionalexperience in rail/railroad transit signalengineering, construction, and/or testingmaintenance.Certifications & Licenses PE preferredEqual Employment Opportunity (EEO) Bi-State Development is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.Compensation Disclosure Bi-State Development is committed to ensuring all employees are compensated fairly.
