Candidate Requirements
Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or engineering OR a minimum of 3 years of management experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
Industry & Technical Expertise: Background in scrap metal operations using heavy equipment, with hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance/engineering fundamentals, including preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
Operational Skills: Knowledge of inventory management, shipping/receiving, and applying Lean manufacturing principles.
Leadership & Soft Skills: Strong written/verbal communication skills, ability to manage and prioritize changing workloads, proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and the ability to pass pre-employment drug screening (urine and hair follicle).
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance: Serve as a role model to initiate, lead, and uphold all plant safety, environmental policies, and housekeeping standards.
Shift & Maintenance Leadership: Manage daily second-shift operations (4:00 PM – 2:00 AM) of the shredder, downstream processing, mobile equipment, and material handling systems while coordinating maintenance scheduling and parts ordering with team leaders.
Team Development & Operations: Lead, coach, hire, and train operators and maintenance personnel, establish work schedules, conduct monthly inventories, and support long-range planning and budgeting.
Relationship Management: Maintain positive working relationships with internal teams and external customers.
River Metals Recycling LLC, a division of Nucor, is seeking a Shredder Supervisor - 2nd Shift in Cincinnati, OH to lead second-shift shredding operations, maintenance, and safety for the facility.
