Job Title: Shopify POS Lead Developer
Location: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid)

Type: Contract

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Shopify POS Lead Developer with strong expertise in Shopify POS UI Extensions, React, TypeScript, Shopify APIs, and Retail/POS systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building and leading Shopify POS implementations, integrating enterprise systems, and supporting retail store operations at scale.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and lead delivery of Shopify POS UI Extensions for retail use cases
  • Build POS experiences using React, TypeScript, and Shopify POS UI Extension components
  • Migrate legacy POS extensions to newer versions while managing API changes and rollout strategies
  • Develop integrations using Shopify Admin GraphQL APIs, REST APIs, Webhooks, and App Bridge
  • Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines for deployment through Shopify Partners Dashboard
  • Support Smart Grid configurations for store/location/role-specific POS experiences
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventive solutions
  • Build integrations with payment gateways, ERP, OMS, inventory systems, loyalty and fraud platforms
  • Collaborate with product owners, integration teams, and RFID specialists for enterprise retail workflows
  • Support store launches, deployments, testing, and international expansion initiatives
  • Diagnose and integrate POS hardware/peripherals
  • Mentor development teams and ensure code quality, observability, and security best practices

Required Skills:

Must Have:
  • 10-12+ years overall IT experience
  • 5+ years experience in POS/eCommerce environments supporting large retailers
  • 3-5+ years hands-on Shopify POS Development
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Shopify POS UI Extensions
    • React.js & TypeScript
    • JavaScript (ES6+)
    • HTML5 & CSS3
    • Shopify Admin GraphQL API & REST APIs
    • Shopify App Bridge
    • Webhooks
    • Shopify Admin APIs
    • Git & CI/CD Pipelines
  • Experience building custom Shopify applications
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with enterprise integrations (ERP, OMS, Payment, Inventory, Loyalty platforms)
  • Strong communication and leadership capabilities
