Overview

The Shop Machine Press Operator isresponsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a 500-ton press, likely a hydraulic press, to produce metal components according to specifications. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols. This position is a Individual Contributor role. The role directly reports to the Supervisor.

• Sets up and operates and monitors the 500-ton press to ensure accurate and efficient production of parts.
• Studies blueprints, layouts, and sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operation, and setup requirements.
• Loading and unloading materials, potentially including metal plates or components, into the press.
• Perform routine machine adjustments to maintain product quality
• Inspect finished parts using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure specifications are met
• Conduct quality checks and document production results
• Troubleshoot basic machine issues and escalate complex problems as needed
• Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of equipment
• Follow all safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and company policies
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Maintaining accurate production records and other relevant documentation
• Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 50 pounds.
• Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
• Performs other duties and activities as required.

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous experience operating press machines or similar industrial equipment
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
