POSITION SUMMARY The Shipping Supervisor will plan and coordinate shipping activities to ensure timely and efficient processing of orders domestically and internationally. The Shipping Supervisor will lead by example and provide feedback to team members on a regular basis to ensure that best practices are followed within the Shipping Department. - Lead, train and mentor shipping employees and associates to ensure they understand their roles, follow procedures, and meet productivity goals.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth communication.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems and processes, including project management, sales, accounting, and scheduling.
- Inspect physical conditions of warehouse, vehicles and equipment and communicate maintenance and repairs needed to warehouse manager.
- Manage carrier relationships and request freight quotes.
- Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues.
- Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping, or salvaging products or materials.
- Monitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, environmental policies, and government regulations.
- Analyze the monetary impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers.
- Monitor inventory levels of products and materials in warehouse.
- Communicate to sales and billing departments the transportation charges for customers' accounts.
- Direct inbound or outbound operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities.
- Plan and implement improvements to internal or external systems or processes.
- Review invoices, work orders, consumption reports, or demand forecasts to estimate peak performance periods and to issue work assignments.
