    Description

    Eddie Kane Steel Products has been a family owned and operated business providing exceptional service in the steel industry for over 26 years. The company motto has always been to "Treat others as you would have them treat you" and we are in search of a full time Shipping Supervisor.


    General Description:  Responsible for the flow of all inbound and outbound shipments and the proper staging of this material to ensure EKSP processes customer orders in an efficient, accurate and safe manner by performing the following duties.

     

     

    Duties and Responsibilities


    Shipping & Outbound Logistics

    • Load box trucks, flatbeds, and outbound vehicles safely and accurately.
    • Inspect all outbound shipments (as‑is and processed orders) to ensure they match all shipping paperwork.
    • Ensure nothing is loaded without proper paperwork and all items listed on the BOL are loaded onto the correct truck.
    • Complete required BOL checklist sections to ensure shipment accuracy.
    • Work with the management to ensure packing slips, BOLs, MTRs, and all additional shipping documents are correct and included with the shipment.
    • Verify BOLs are signed by carriers/drivers before leaving the facility.
    • Ensure all skids are properly labeled with part numbers, customer PO, piece count, material grade, skid number, and BOL number.
    • Ensure all skids are packaged in a manner that ensures safe delivery and prevents damage.
    • Route and schedule local trucks to customers utilizing stock on hand.

    Receiving & Inbound Logistics

    • Inspect, document, and store incoming shipments to ensure accuracy and proper inventory management.
    • Verify incoming material against purchase orders, packing lists, and receiving documentation for correct quantities and quality.
    • Quarantine internal and external rejections as required and notify the appropriate personnel.
    • Ensure receivers are filled out correctly and complete

    Material Handling & Movement

    • Collect parts and finished goods to fulfill customer orders.
    • Ensure shipped material matches bills of lading and customer expectations.
    • Ensure skid weights meet customer requirements and loading limitations.
    • Locate, separate, and transfer materials for value‑added processing using pick lists.
    • Move materials to designated staging and stock locations with proper identification at all times.
    • Maintain accurate daily move sheets for all material location changes.
    • Assist burn table operators by pulling material to maintain workflow through work centers.
    • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes as required.
    • Serve as a backup crane operator as needed.


    Leadership & Communication

    • Communicate all relevant job‑related information daily to management and associated departments.
    • Provide motivation, coaching, and leadership to assigned personnel.
    • Plan, direct, and support the work of assigned staff to achieve efficient, accurate, and safe operations.

    General Responsibilities

    • Continuously clean and maintain work areas, equipment, and support machinery.
    • Review daily forklift and equipment inspections.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


     Skills:

    Basic

    mechanical aptitude

    Basic reading

    and mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)

    Knowledge of

    overhead crane operation

    Dexterity

    skills & balance

    Ability to

    lift up to 75 pounds

    Ability to

    lift (with hands & arms), bend, stoop, squat, stand or walk for extended

    periods of time

    Good oral

    & written communication skills

    Good

    interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others

     

    Education/Experience:

    High School

    Diploma or Equivalent

    Prior

    experience helpful
