Full-time - M-F 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing all inbound and outbound dock operations within the distribution center. This role processes purchase order receipts, prepares outbound shipments, maintains shipping documentation, and coordinates carrier activity.

The position works across both shipping and receiving functions depending on daily operational needs and coordinates with material handlers for equipment-assisted loading and unloading when needed. The Shipping & Receiving Clerk ensures that all freight moves accurately, on time, and in compliance with company and carrier requirements.

  • Receive and unload inbound shipments, including parcel deliveries, LTL freight, and containers, using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or dock equipment. Coordinate with material handlers for forklift-assisted unloading as needed.
  • Inspect incoming goods for damage, quantity accuracy, and condition, verifying against purchase orders or advance shipping notices.
  • Process inbound receipts in the warehouse management system (Blue Cherry), updating inventory records and locations upon verification.
  • Identify and document receiving discrepancies, shortages, or damage, and communicate findings to the supervisor for resolution.
  • Stage received materials in designated areas for put-away by warehouse team members.
  • Prepare and process outbound customer shipments, ensuring correct product, quantity, and packaging prior to dispatch.
  • Create and print shipping labels accurately through ShipStation, FedEx, UPS, USPS, and carrier-specific platforms.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing slips, and other required shipping documentation.
  • Ensure proper pallet wrapping, stacking, and load securement for safe transport.
  • Verify shipment accuracy before release and coordinate with material handlers for forklift-assisted loading of outbound trucks and trailers.
  • Coordinate dock scheduling, including carrier pickups and deliveries, in coordination with the supervisor and operations team.
  • Communicate shipment status, delays, carrier issues, or discrepancies to supervisors and team leads in real time.
  • Maintain shipping and receiving areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition at all times.
  • Operate powered pallet jacks and dock equipment safely. If forklift certified, may operate forklifts in support of dock operations as approved by the supervisor.
  • Follow all company safety, housekeeping, and documentation standards.
  • Support other warehouse functions as needed during high-volume or seasonal periods.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of shipping, receiving, or dock operations experience required.
  • Forklift certification preferred; may be required based on operational needs and supervisor approval.
  • Experience with shipping platforms (ShipStation, FedEx, UPS) and knowledge of BOL documentation is preferred.
  • Experience using Blue Cherry WMS or other warehouse management systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to verify quantities, documentation, and product condition accurately.
  • Ability to work across both shipping and receiving functions based on daily operational needs.
  • Solid organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced dock environment.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the shift.
  • Regular operation of powered industrial equipment (forklift, electric pallet jack, dock levelers).
  • Exposure to varying temperatures in dock and storage areas, including outdoor dock doors.
  • Must wear required PPE (safety shoes, high-visibility vest, gloves, etc.) at all times.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday – Friday, with overtime or weekend work as needed for carrier pickups, container arrivals, or seasonal demand.
