We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Shipping Manager to lead transportation, warehouse, freezer, and shipping operations. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient product movement, inventory accuracy, regulatory compliance, team leadership, and customer service while maintaining thehighest standards of safety and food quality.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, enjoy leading teams, and be willing to jump into daily operations when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all shipping, transportation, freezer, and loading dock operations
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, GMP, HACCP, food safety, and company policies
  • Coordinate daily activities with Production, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and Plant Leadership
  • Schedule common carrier appointments and coordinate customer deliveries
  • Manage shipping personnel, clerks, drivers, and support staff
  • Monitor attendance, payroll records, and employee performance
  • Conduct employee coaching, performance reviews, and corrective action when necessary
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new team members
  • Maintain freezer inventory accuracy and oversee monthly physical inventory counts
  • Ensure FIFO inventory rotation practices are followed
  • Manage pallet inventory and inbound pallet quality standards
  • Coordinate fleet and equipment maintenance activities
  • Respond to transportation breakdowns and operational emergencies
  • Perform daily inspections of docks, freezers, and loading areas
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready operation
  • Coordinate product holds, recalls, and inventory tracking with Quality Assurance
  • Provide hands-on support during staffing shortages, vacations, and peak production periods
  • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely
  • Make deliveries and operate company vehicles when necessary
  • Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and repairs
  • Remain available outside normal business hours to support urgent operational needs
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in shipping, warehouse, transportation, logistics, or distribution operations
  • Experience in food manufacturing, cold storage, or distribution environments preferred
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Experience managing inventory, shipping documentation, and transportation operations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems
  • Ability to analyze problems and implement effective solutions
  • Forklift experience required
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in freezer environments and varying temperatures
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work overtime, weekends, and respond to operational emergencies
