Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee general shipping activities and manage the shipping staff
- Ensure the smooth operation of the shipping department
- Make sure all processes and procedures are being followed, issuing corrective action when needed
- Manage the loading and unloading of trucks, including physically moving bread/bun stacks to the shipping dock
- Inspect incoming shipments and manage discrepancies
- Operate electric pallet jacks
- Generate BOL’s and ensure seals are applied and tracked to trailers carrying ingredients
- Collaborate effectively with the dispatch department
- Communicate and attempt to resolve shortages
- Monitor accuracy and productivity of shipping staff
- Oversee the scheduling and timecard approval of shipping staff
Qualifications:
- Detail oriented with strong multitasking skills
- Thrives in fast paced environment with a proven ability to solve problems
- Excellent communication and follow up skills
- Proficient in managing day-to-day operations and using computer systems
Physical Requirements:
- Constant standing and walking on concrete floors and trailer beds
- Occasional pushing/pulling of transport racks and bread trays
- Regular bending, stopping, twisting, reaching, lifting, and carrying
- Handling and grasping bakery product trays, transport racks, and boxes
- Frequently lifting and/or moving items up to 50lbs.
