Debbie’s Staffing has a Shipping Clerk position available for our Client in Whitsett, NC!
Schedule: 7:00am-4:00pm Monday-Friday $18 per hour
Job Summary:
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for accurately preparing, processing, and verifying all incoming and outgoing shipments. This role ensures materials are properly packaged, documented, and routed while maintaining compliance with organizational procedures and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Verify shipment contents and compare materials against documentation such as manifests, invoices, and purchase orders.
• Prepare required shipping documents, including bills of lading and shipping orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Pack, seal, label, and prepare products for shipment in accordance with company and carrier requirements.
• Record shipment details—including weight, charges, damages, and discrepancies—for reporting, accounting, and record-keeping purposes.
• Communicate with vendors, carriers, and internal departments to resolve issues related to damages, shortages, or non-conformance with specifications.
• Transport materials within the facility using hand trucks or other approved equipment.
• Determine appropriate shipping methods, routes, and rates based on product type,
destination, and carrier guidelines.
• Locate, measure, and weigh materials to support routing and cost calculation.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Required Skills and Abilities
• Previous experience in material handling or a shipping/receiving environment.
• Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience working with shipping software (e.g., FedEx systems).
• Experience using ERP or data-entry systems such as Syteline.
• Ability to operate standard shipping tools and equipment, including hand trucks, tape dispensers, and related devices.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, pull sheets, bills of lading, and related documentation.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and record-keeping skills
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Warehouse/Manufacturing experience in cycle counting preferred.
- Associates degree in a related field preferred.
- Experience working with Bill of lading
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. often.
- Be able to stand & walk for long periods of time.
