A well-established global manufacturer of control, safety, and hazardous area is seeking a Shipping Clerk to plan and coordinate all activities related to the preparation and shipment of finished goods from the facility. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, self-motivated professional with previous shipping experience and working knowledge of domestic and international freight systems. Working under the direction of the Shipping Supervisor, the new hire will ensure all orders are accurately processed, packaged, and dispatched daily in accordance with company policies and customer requirements.

Location: Houston, TX 77064
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm (flexibility for OT)

Responsibilities:
  • Utilize IFS system reports to determine daily stock inventory items that need to be picked and shipped; prepare pick lists and delivery notes for daily shipments.
  • Assure orders and shipping quantities match picking documents through careful audit.
  • Identify and coordinate correction of errors in orders or shipping documents.
  • Assemble packaging materials and package merchandise per instructions in preparation for shipment.
  • Utilize networked shipping systems (UPS, FedEx) to process ground and freight shipments.
  • Enter data pertaining to domestic and international shipments into the company's IFS system and into commercial freight carrier systems (UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc.).
  • Prepare export documentation as required for international shipments.
  • Notify consignees of shipment information to other offices and/or agents as needed.
  • Coordinate with carriers and freight forwarders to schedule pick-up of goods; ensure drivers depart with appropriate paperwork.
  • Initiate, answer, and document tracer inquiries when requested via email and/or fax.
  • Confirm physical shipment of goods and facilitate package tracking when requested.
  • Process daily invoices in IFS.
  • Coordinate with the Customer Service team to resolve shipping instructions or customer requests when required.
  • Ensure accuracy of all shipping documents through strict adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Gather, enter, and maintain all data and records related to shipping activities in IFS and/or the internal network.
  • Monitor the supply of packaging materials and requisition additional supplies as required.
  • Complete necessary management reports as required.
  • Assist with special projects at the discretion of the manager.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous shipping experience preferred
  • Experience utilizing an MRP system; IFS preferred
  • Experience with computerized dispatch shipping systems (UPS, FedEx, DHL)
  • Qualified forklift driver
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, handle frequent interruptions, and manage shifting priorities
  • Strong self-motivation, self-discipline, and organizational skills
  • Positive and flexible attitude
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English
  • Basic math skills including the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs; push, lift, and carry boxes up to 50 lbs.
