The Shipping and Receiving Worker is responsible for operating the forklift to relocate, stack, wrap, and count merchandise. This position is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the forklift, and Lifeway product. Essential Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesAbility to safely and frequently operate yard/terminal tractorResponsible for loading and offloading trailersAccurately ship all products to our sister company and directly to customersEnsure all sales orders meet deadlines and are shipped on timeEnsure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate, free of damage, and follow Safe Quality Foods (SQF) procedures with company policies and procedures for such materialsResponsible for utilizing the FIFO system (first in first out on finished goods, packaging and raw materials)Take product temperature checksAbility to work in cold environment, appropriate uniform attire provided by Lifeway Ensure shipping/receiving document is accuratePerform trailer inspections for each inbound and outbound loadPerform safety checks- chock trailer tires and install trailer jacksCommunicate with drivers and ensure each document is signed and dated appropriatelyWrap all products, place in racking,and turn in locations to the data entry clerkPull and prepare product for shipping, ensuring exact number and type of product is loaded and shippedMove product to storage locations, efficiently stack, and store product in appropriate areasWrap order on pallet for shipmentStage truckloads of pallets being shipped to customers and label accordinglyLabel every pallet with a pallet tag- verifying product lot code and quantityFill out paperwork for every inbound and outbound load.Count and place pallet tags on every inbound loadSeal every outbound load- documenting the seal numberComply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areaReport to workstation on time; Wear proper work attire; Assist in setting up work areaPerform duties according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Sanitization Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) that meet quality and safety standards pertaining to: Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Wisconsin Department of Agriculture (WDA), and customer requirementsConduct behavior in compliance with Lifeway Employee PolicyPerform additional duties as assignedQualification and Education RequirementsHigh school diploma required; Or three to six months related experience; Or equivalent Experience operatingyard/terminal tractorDemonstrate intellectual and interpersonal skills through leadership, organization, and self-efficacy Good communications skills, must communicate with truck drivers, as well as peersAbility to read and write comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and effectively present them to groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general publicBasic mathematical skills and understanding of algebra and geometryKnowledge of Manufacturing Software, Inventory Software, and Microsoft Office including Excel and OutlookComfortable working in very cold environmentMust be able to lift 50 lbs.; Ability to be on your feet for entirety of 8-hour shift; Ability to climb ladders and maneuver through equipment; Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilitiesLifeway Foods, Inc is a growing Chicago-based beverage manufacturer with over 25 years of experience.
