Job Title: Quality Auditor
Job Description
The Quality Auditor plays a key role in ensuring accurate inventory control, high-quality standards, and food safety compliance within a fast-paced production environment. This position focuses on receiving and organizing shipments, performing inventory counts, and conducting quality inspections while maintaining detailed documentation and adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards. The role requires a self-starter who can work independently on the night shift and support a strong culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Receive incoming shipments and unload loads safely and efficiently, including bulk ingredients, following established procedures.
- Organize received materials into appropriate bins and storage locations to maintain an orderly and accurate inventory system.
- Operate a stand-up forklift to move, stage, and store materials in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform regular inventory counts, including cycle counts and end-of-year counts, to verify stock levels and identify discrepancies.
- Use analytical skills to determine accurate counts, make necessary adjustments, and maintain precise inventory records.
- Conduct quality inspections and audits on incoming materials and in-process products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Maintain and update documentation related to quality inspections, lab records, audits, and inventory control in an organized and accurate manner.
- Follow and enforce food safety, GMP, and BRC requirements throughout all daily activities.
- Use Excel and other documentation tools to record data, track inventory, and report quality findings.
- Work with minimal supervision during night shifts, making sound decisions and prioritizing tasks to meet operational needs.
- Support shipping and receiving processes by verifying documentation, checking quantities, and ensuring product integrity.
- Handle materials and ingredients safely, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working outdoors for up to an hour at a time in colder weather conditions to unload bulk ingredients.
- Participate in internal audits and quality checks to support continuous improvement of quality and inventory processes.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to resolve inventory and quality issues and implement corrective actions when needed.
Essential Skills
- Prior experience with receiving shipments, unloading loads, and organizing materials into bins.
- Hands-on experience operating a stand-up forklift in a warehouse or production environment.
- Proven experience performing inventory counts, including cycle counts and end-of-year counts.
- Strong analytical ability to determine accurate counts, identify discrepancies, and make appropriate adjustments.
- Experience in quality assurance, quality inspection, or working as a quality technician, auditor, or inspector.
- Working knowledge of food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and follow lab and quality documentation procedures.
- Proficiency with Excel for data entry, tracking inventory, and documenting quality information.
- Experience in inventory management and strong familiarity with inventory processes.
- Ability to work independently with little to no supervision on night shifts.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely as part of daily duties.
- Ability to work outdoors for up to an hour at a time in colder weather while unloading bulk ingredients.
- Willingness and ability to follow all GMP-related personal appearance and safety requirements, including restrictions on artificial nails, eyelashes, visible jewelry, and adherence to required attire.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a food manufacturing or food processing environment.
- Knowledge of BRC or similar food safety and quality standards.
- Experience with shipping and receiving processes in a production or warehouse setting.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
- Bilingual communication skills are preferred and considered an asset.
- Interest in professional development in quality and leadership, including potential participation in external courses supported by the employer.
Work Environment
The facility operates 24/7 in a production and warehouse setting with a focus on food manufacturing and quality control. The Quality Auditor will initially train on a day schedule, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After training, the regular schedule will be Sunday night through Thursday night from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. The weekly shipment and receiving schedule is provided in advance, and start times may occasionally shift earlier or later by 1-2 hours as needed, with notice given the week prior. The role involves working in and out of freezer areas throughout the day, as well as spending periods of time outdoors in colder weather while unloading bulk ingredients. Per GMP guidelines, team members do not wear artificial nails, artificial eyelashes, or visible jewelry and must wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and long-sleeve shirts. Uniforms and freezer jackets are provided. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.25 - $20.25/hr.
