Shift Supervisor

Shift: Afternoon shift, 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM
Salary: $83,200 - $93,600, plus time and a half for overtime

Shift Supervisor Role

The Shift Supervisor oversees daily manufacturing operations, personnel management, and safety compliance within the facility during the assigned shift. This position functions as a working supervisor to maximize production efficiency, maintain strict quality standards, and minimize machine downtime.

Shift Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of production operators, die setters, and process technicians
  • Conduct plant walkthroughs, shift assignment distribution, and shift change meetings to ensure seamless operational continuity
  • Monitor production schedules and track key performance indicators including scrap rates, downtime, and operational efficiency
  • Troubleshoot complex plastic injection molding processing issues and implement prompt corrective actions
  • Assist production teams with machine setups, startups, tool changeovers, and automation adjustments
  • Coordinate directly with the maintenance staff for equipment repairs, tool maintenance, and preventive maintenance schedules
  • Ensure strict adherence to company safety policies, regulatory requirements, and proper use of personal protective equipment
  • Coach, train, and evaluate employee performance to support ongoing technical and skill development
  • Manage proper shift staffing levels and assign work duties dynamically based on evolving production demands
  • Communicate shift performance, production status, and critical operational issues to management and incoming shift teams

Shift Supervisor Reporting Relationships

This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and/or the Chief Operating Officer. The role provides direct supervision and leadership to shift personnel, including process technicians, mold/die setters, material handlers, and press operators.

About You

  • Possess 3+ years of technical experience in plastic injection molding manufacturing
  • Demonstrate 1-3 years of supervisory or lead leadership experience within a fast-paced production environment
  • Maintain strong hands-on experience troubleshooting injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and tooling
  • Exhibit a broad understanding of diverse thermoplastic materials, polymer behavior, resin characteristics, and drying processes
  • Demonstrate familiarity with scientific molding methodologies and advanced cavity pressure monitoring systems
  • Maintain knowledge of part removal automation, including Cartesian, 6-axis, or brand-specific robotic systems
  • Understand industry quality standards such as ISO 9001 or IATF-16949
  • Possess strong conflict resolution, employee coaching, and team mobilization capabilities
  • Demonstrate the physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand, walk, bend, or twist for extended periods on the production floor
  • Maintain the strong problem-solving skills and visual acuity necessary to evaluate product quality and meet tight production deadlines
