Job Goal

The Prenatal - Early Childhood Services and Supports Unit of the SFLC works to develop & implement a comprehensive research-based strategy for prenatal to early childhood supports ensuring alignment & coordination with early childhood through K priorities putting children & families on a path toward school success.
General Description
-------------------
The Playgroup Facilitator supports the implementation of developmentally appropriate playgroups for children ages birth-5. The Facilitator is responsible for the day-to-day running of playgroups ensuring the provision of a safe welcoming and active learning environment for all children and their families.
Preferred Qualifications
------------------------
- Experience working with parents and children birth to 5yrs old in a group setting.
- Ability to create a warm and welcoming environment for culturally diverse families.
- Experience working with ethnically and economically diverse communities.
- Experience working with families with children with special needs.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with parents, children, and staff.
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with others.
- Ability to organize, operate independently, and multi-task.
- Degree or Course work in early childhood and special education preferred.
- Proficiency in a language or languages other than English is preferred.
- Deep commitment to closing opportunity gaps and promoting equitable practices.
Responsibilities

- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for children Birth-5yrs.
- Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate circle time which includes book reading and songs.
- Integrate parent support and Strengthening Families content into the playgroup routine.
- Support development & implementation of the parent education component.
- Recognize parents as their childs first & primary teacher.
- Provide parents with resources and referrals as necessary.
- Support parents, guardians, caregivers, and children as they engage with the group.
- Engage with all children and their families during every playgroup.
- Encourage all children to interact and work cooperatively.
- Maintain a positive productive atmosphere during every playgroup.
- Work cooperatively in a team.
- Participate in professional development trainings and staff meetings.
- Adhere to the SFLC policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment.
- Maintain playgroup attendance records.
