Description
This posting will be used to fill 1 vacancy and depending on your qualifications will be used to fill a Sewer Technician 1, 2 or 3.
This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position with Public Works located in Carson City, Nevada. Under general supervision, the Sewer Technician 1, 2 or 3, performs semi-skilled work related to the maintenance, repair and construction of sewer system infrastructure.
SALARY RANGES:
Sewer Technician 1 salary range:
Employer-Paid PERS:$22.7003 - $31.7805 hourly / $47,216.53 - $66,103.44 annually
Employee/Employer-Paid PERS: $27.3854 - $38.3396 hourly / $56,961.58 - $79,746.42 annually
Sewer Technician 2 salary range:
Employer-Paid PERS: $24.5270 - $34.3376 hourly / $51,016.16 - $71,422.26 annually
Employee/Employer-Paid PERS: $29.5889 - $41.4245 hourly / $61,544.86 - $86,162.96 annually
Sewer Technician 3 salary range:
Employer-Paid PERS: $26.9797 - $37.7717 hourly / $56,117.88 - $78,565.24 annually
Employee/Employer-Paid PERS: $32.5480 - $45.5671 hourly / $67,699.84 - $94,779.62 annually

Sewer Technician 1 minimum qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Equivalent to a High School education or GED; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.
Sewer Technician 2 minimum qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Equivalent to a High School education or GED; AND two (2) years of public works maintenance experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.
Sewer Technician 3 minimum qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Equivalent to a High School education or GED; AND three (3) years of public works maintenance experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Under General Supervision - Incumbents at this level are given assignments and objectives that are governed by specifically outlined work methods and a sequence of steps, which are explained in general terms. The responsibility for achieving the work objectives, however, rests with a superior. Incumbents are not required to apply theory or to use their own judgment. Immediate supervision is not consistent, but checks are integrated into work processes and/or reviews are frequent enough to ensure compliance with instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Strength and mobility to work in a typical field or shop maintenance setting, including operating hand and power tools; stamina to perform sustained physical labor, including standing, walking, climbing and working in confined or awkward spaces; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 80 pounds; work at height of up to seventy-five (75) feet; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or telephone. Work outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions and extreme temperatures. Work involves exposure to potentially hazardous fumes, solvents and liquids.
Employees must maintain an active telephone. Employees must reside within 30 minutes of Carson City. Employees must be willing to work overtime, shifts, weekends and holidays. Required to be on-call.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
All employees covered by this job description are subject to drug and alcohol testing in
accordance with the requirements of the FMCSA, as set forth in 49 CFR part 382 as amended; and the Carson City FMCSA Anti-Drug & Alcohol Misuse Prevention Program; which are hereby referenced and made part of the job description and mandates urine testing and breath alcohol testing for safety-sensitive and commercial drivers license positions. A violation of the policy and/or law may result in immediate termination of employment.
The US Department of Transportation (DOT) also imposes 49 CFR part 40 as amended, which is hereby referenced and made part of this job description, that establishes standards for collection and testing of urine and breath specimens.
