Job Title: Set and Prop Designer
Job Description: Design and create theatrical sets, props, stage effects, and theatrical machinery for ballet productions. Collaborate with directors, choreographers, and designers to ensure cohesive visual presentation. Prepare sketches, models, and technical drawings, and select appropriate materials and finishes. Oversee the construction, painting, and installation of scenic elements. Supervise crews and ensure the safe operation of stage machinery and effects. Conduct research to ensure authenticity and attend rehearsals to make adjustments as needed. Manage timelines to meet artistic and production goals.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Design, Architecture, Fine Arts, or a closely related field.
- Six months of professional experience in carpentry, set design, and stage machinery design for theatrical productions with ballet or dance companies, including experience in:
- Utilizing design software such as AutoCAD, Vectorworks, SketchUp, or Adobe Creative Suite;
- Applying theatrical construction methods;
- Utilizing stage machinery; and
- Designing and implementing stage special effects that are artistically compelling and safe.
