Chimney & Hearth Service Technician
Locally Owned Chimney Company – Since 1987
Harford County, MD (Service area includes Baltimore & Cecil Counties)
Full-Time | Competitive Pay + Incentives | Long-Term Career Opportunity

About Us
We are a well-established, locally owned chimney and hearth company proudly serving Harford County and surrounding areas since 1987. We’re growing and looking for hands-on, mechanically talented individuals to join our team. This is a true skilled-trade career — not just sweeping chimneys.
You’ll work on everything from technical gas and pellet stove repairs to full chimney rebuilds, new fireplace installations, and beautiful stone veneer work. If you’re good with your hands, enjoy construction-style projects, and have solid troubleshooting skills, we can teach you the chimney-specific side through our structured apprenticeship program.
We value people who are driven to grow, take pride in quality craftsmanship, and want to advance into lead or senior roles.

Position Summary
This is a physically active, technical, and construction-oriented role. You will diagnose and repair complex heating appliances and perform hands-on installation and rebuild work. The ideal candidate has mechanical aptitude from construction, HVAC, automotive, appliance repair, or general trades and is comfortable learning both the technical and masonry sides of the business.
Key Responsibilities

Diagnose, service, and repair gas and pellet stoves (electronics, ignition systems, venting, etc.)
Inspect chimneys and fireplaces (Level 1–3 inspections) and perform chimney sweeps
Rebuild and repair chimneys (full tear-downs, crown work, flue repairs)
Install new fireplaces and wood-burning / gas / pellet insert systems
Install stone veneer on fireplaces, chimneys, and exterior features
Perform masonry repairs including tuckpointing, brick replacement, dampers, caps, and liners
Troubleshoot technical issues across fireplaces, stoves, and venting systems
Provide honest recommendations, create estimates, and deliver excellent customer service
Maintain accurate records and follow all safety protocols

What We’re Looking For
We prioritize real-world talent with tools in your hands over prior chimney experience.
Required:
Strong mechanical aptitude and proven experience diagnosing/repairing equipment (electronics, HVAC, vehicles, appliances, or similar)
Hands-on construction or trade background (carpentry, masonry, general construction, etc.)
Comfortable working at heights, climbing ladders, and in confined spaces
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and use power tools daily
Reliable, accountable, and motivated to grow and eventually lead
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable transportation

Preferred (we provide paid training):

Experience with gas systems, electrical diagnosis, or masonry/stone work
Any relevant certifications (CSIA, NFI, NCSG, etc.)
Background installing fireplaces, stone veneer, or doing chimney rebuilds

Apprenticeship & Training
No chimney experience? That’s okay. If you have solid hands-on skills and a strong desire to learn, our apprenticeship program will train you step-by-step and support you in earning industry certifications.
What We Offer

Competitive Compensation: Hourly base + performance incentives. Skilled, driven technicians commonly earn $60,000 – $80,000+ per year
Benefits:
Medical Insurance after 90 days
IRA Retirement Plan with 3% match after 1 year
Company work vehicle (for job use)
Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays
Paid training, certifications, tools, uniforms, and safety equipment

Stable, year-round local work with variety (service, repairs, installations, and rebuilds)
Supportive team environment with nearly 40 years in business

Ready to Build a Rewarding Trade Career?
If you’re a motivated, hands-on problem solver who enjoys both technical diagnostics and construction-style work (installing fireplaces, stone veneer, and rebuilding chimneys), we want to hear from you.
