What You'll Do As a Commercial Door & Dock Service Technician, you'll manage your own service route across the Charlotte to Fayetteville corridor, dispatched from home in a company-provided service truck. No two days are the same — you'll work across a wide range of equipment types and customer environments.
Daily responsibilities include:
- Installing, servicing, and repairing overhead sectional doors, rolling steel doors, coiling doors, fire-rated doors, hollow metal doors, glass storefront systems, and curtain walls
- Servicing and repairing loading dock equipment including dock levelers (mechanical, hydraulic, and air-powered), dock seals, dock shelters, vehicle restraints, dock bumpers, and edge-of-dock levelers
- Performing automatic door inspections and fire door inspections per NFPA 80 and AAADM compliance standards
- Troubleshooting and repairing commercial door operators, gate operators, access control systems, keypads, card readers, loop detectors, and electrified hardware
- Servicing high-speed doors, high-cycle doors, and industrial fabric doors
- Repairing and replacing door hardware including hinges, closers, exit devices, panic hardware, locksets, and thresholds
- Performing scheduled preventative maintenance on commercial and industrial door systems
- Conducting safety inspections and producing compliant documentation
- Reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and installation specifications
- Managing work orders and service calls through mobile dispatch software and field service management platforms
- Communicating clearly and professionally with facility managers, property managers, and maintenance personnel
- Maintaining company vehicle, tools, and equipment to company standards
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in commercial doors, dock equipment, construction trades, or facilities maintenance
- Mechanical aptitude — comfortable with electrical troubleshooting, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, springs, cables, and tracks
- Experience reading wiring diagrams and installation drawings
- Comfortable working from ladders, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and aerial work platforms
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work in varying conditions
- Valid driver's license with a clean MVR
- Professional appearance and strong customer service skills

- Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule
