Service Manager

Summary

The Service Manager is responsible for managing the overall profitability, assets, and employees of the MHR Service and Parts Departments. The Service Manager is also responsible for ensuring that the Service and Parts Departments meets their parts goals, labor goals and daily, monthly, and yearly objectives while cultivating departments that focus on customer service and satisfaction by responding in a timely, polite and professional manner.

Primary Duties

  • Provides a superior level of customer service and satisfaction; interacts with all departments within MHR to accomplish goals and maintain good working relationships; establishes a positive working relationship with the manufacturer and the manufacturer representatives
  • Manages personnel across the country including a Service Supervisor, forklift technicians, parts personnel, and supporting administrative personnel
  • Creates goals and objectives for the Service and Parts Departments, which includes an annual operating budget and a marketing plan to promote new and repeat business
  • Hires and supervises all service department personnel and remote campus Technicians, as well as monitors their performance in servicing customers
  • Provides training on administrative policies, safety and procedures for all department personnel
  • Keeps up-to-date on manufacturer warranty and policy procedures while serving as a liaison with the factory representatives; submits all warranty claims
  • Responsible for all preventative maintenance and repair of GEODIS equipment; reviews all paperwork and repair orders for errors and makes corrections as needed before the information is submitted to the accounting office
  • Manages the assets (warranty) and profitability (forecasts) of the department; and, ensures highest standards for quality are maintained in the services rendered by the department
  • Communicates with Company Management around the country to ensure their equipment maintenance needs are being met

Experience

  • Minimum 6 years related management experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong mechanical knowledge
  • Experience with electrical and hydraulic
  • PC literate to include Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and co-workers
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and temperate climate conditions.
