About the Role:

The Service Manager plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the Service department within an automotive dealership or similar service oriented business. This position is responsible for driving operational excellence, maximizing profitability, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction through effective management of service technicians and customer service teams. The director will develop and implement strategic plans to optimize workflow, improve service delivery, and maintain compliance with industry standards and company policies. Collaboration with other departments such as sales and finance is essential to align goals and enhance overall dealership performance. Ultimately, the Service Manager ensures that customers receive timely, high-quality service support, fostering long-term loyalty and business growth.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Automotive Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive service management or a similar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive service operations and dealership processes.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using dealership management systems (DMS) and inventory control software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from recognized industry organizations such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) or NADA (National Automobile Dealers Association).
  • Experience working in a multi-location dealership environment or with multiple vehicle brands.
  • Advanced training in leadership, customer service, or inventory management.
  • Familiarity with financial management principles including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the service department, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality customer service.
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase service revenue while controlling costs and maintaining profitability.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor service staff to build a skilled, motivated, and customer-focused team.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare regular reports to track department performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements within the service operations.
  • Collaborate with parts, sales, finance, and other departments to create seamless customer experiences and support overall business objectives.
  • Handle customer escalations and resolve complex service or parts issues to maintain high satisfaction levels.
