PositionSummary
The Service Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing all service department operations across the organization. This individual will drive profitability, efficiency, technician productivity, recruitment and retention and customer satisfaction while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. The role requires a seasoned leader with deep technical knowledge and proven experience managing service teams in a construction equipment dealership environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily operations of the service department, including both shop and field service activities
Manage workflow, scheduling, technician productivity, and overall service efficiency
Support, mentor, and develop technicians and service personnel while fostering a strong team culture
Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure timely, professional resolution of service concerns
Oversee quality control to ensure repairs meet OEM and company standards
Coordinate with parts and sales departments to provide seamless customer support
Monitor department performance, labor utilization, and turnaround times to improve operational efficiency
Assist with complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, and technical support when needed
Ensure warranty, work order, and billing processes are completed accurately and efficiently
Promote and enforce a safe, organized, and compliant work environment
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on customer service, technician performance, and shop operations
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in construction equipment service operations
5+ years in a leadership or management role
Exceptional communication and organizational skills
Strong understanding of construction equipment repair (excavators, loaders, articulating trucks, surface drill rigs, crushers, etc.)
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Experience with service management systems and KPI tracking
Strong diagnostic and technical background preferred
