Job Summary
We are seeking a versatile CNC Field Service Technician to join our growing regional service team. Based in the greater Central New York area, this hands-on, field-based role is responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of multi-axis CNC machine tools across customer sites.
We are open to considering candidates across a range of experience levels—from entry-level/junior candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and basic machine shop exposure to seasoned field engineers capable of complex machine overhauls.
Key Responsibilities
Perform on-site installation, mechanical alignment, troubleshooting, and repair of multi-axis CNC machine tools equipped with industrial controls.
Conduct mechanical replacements, precision calibrations, and alignments on major machine subassemblies, including spindles, headstocks, ball screws, tool turrets, posts, and servo motors.
Execute electrical and electronic troubleshooting using a strong foundation in basic electrical control theory and industrial electronics.
Act as the primary technical contact on customer sites, maintaining professional communication and serving as a liaison between clients and internal management to resolve complex issues.
Independently manage service calls, diagnostic workflows, and routine field documentation.
Requirements
Practical background in mechanical systems, hands-on machinery repair, or basic machine shop operations.
Must hold a valid driver's license and be fully authorized to work in the United States.
Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the regional territory, including approximately 1–2 overnight hotel stays per week.
Resourceful and independent thinker capable of troubleshooting equipment issues on-site.
Strong customer-facing communication and professional presence.
Preferred Requirements
Prior experience as a Field Service Engineer, Industrial Maintenance Technician, CNC Machinist, or vocational background
Entry-to-Mid Level: Candidates with hands-on mechanical backgrounds who are eager to learn CNC systems.
Senior Level: 3–5+ years of direct field service experience handling advanced tasks such as full spindle rebuilds, complex geometry alignments, and extensive control-level diagnostics.
Computer literacy and familiarity with digital service reporting tools.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive hourly rate structured to reflect experience, ranging from approximately $28.00/hour for early-career/trainable candidates, and up to $38.00/hour for senior, fully autonomous service engineers.
