Responsibilities/Job Description:

Fairview is seeking a Casual Service & Product Assistant to join our team at Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, Minnesota. This position offers flexible scheduling with 8-hour shifts available on days, evenings, and nights based on department needs. As a casual role, hours are not guaranteed, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a flexible work schedule while supporting hospital operations in a collaborative healthcare environment.

 

To receive, deliver, replenish, clean and maintain appropriate equipment/supplies/linen/forms. To assist with maintaining inventory control.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, deliver, replenish, clean, prepare, and maintain supplies/equipment/linen/forms including patient rooms, inventory locations, and other areas, as appropriate.
  • Assist with maintaining adequate inventory levels of equipment and supplies. Understanding of inventory control concepts with the ability to calculate par levels and recommend adjusted levels as necessary. Differentiate between supply usage, routine, special cause, patient volume change and cyclical changes. Alerts Inventory Specialist to inventory variances, stock-outs, and defects, etc.
  • Identify medical products and medical equipment by medical name, purpose, and connection (if any) with other products.
  • Interprets O.R. surgery schedule and selects appropriate medical supplies and surgical instruments for case cart set up.
  • Coordinate the shipment, delivery, and stocking of linen & supplies for all locations as scheduled or required.
  • Assure that excess inventory in totes is accounted for, documented, and properly routed.
  • Participates in cycle counts on a routine basis, identifying inventory requiring adjustments and expired products. Locate and remove products as necessary due to product recalls, changes, or expiration.
  • Assure appropriate rotation of medical equipment to maximize utilization and meet need of patient care areas.
  • Perform gross decontamination of instruments, clean, rinse, and properly route utensils and instruments. Decontaminate and clean patient care equipment.
  • Provides courteous and timely response to customer’s inquiries and requests.
  • Operate computer for supply requests, equipment requests, equipment tracking, productivity reporting, etc.
  • Differentiate between requests; Stat/emergency (life threatening) and routine, and emergency for products, supplies, and equipment. Responds to customer requests according to priority of emergency, urgent and routine, prioritize patient related needs first.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills by listening respectfully, giving balanced feedback directly and honestly, talking with others to clarify differences and utilizing first party communication.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership and SPD Supervisor in making unit inventory decisions that meet needs of customers.
  • Follow through on caregivers inquires, requests, complaints. Keep caregiver up to date about progress of request.
  • Maintain and assure patient confidentiality
  • Other duties as requested and required.
  • Meets and abides by all System, JCAHO, safety, and Departmental Policies and performance/customer service standards.
  • Demonstrates safe operation of pallet jacks, dock lifts, equipment used to move supplies, washers, and washer decontaminators.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level of population served.
  • Partners with patient/caregiver in care/decision making.
  • Communicates in a respectful manner.
  • Ensures a safe, secure environment.
  • Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs.
  • Modifies clinical interventions based on population served.
  • Provides patient education based on an assessment of learning needs of patient/caregiver.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or 2 years of experience in lieu
  • 6 months, comparable materials or related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year health care related experience.
  • 1 year Customer Service Experience
Qualifications: $20.83- $29.40 Hourly
