SERVER

PURPOSE STATEMENT

Greets guests, takes and places guest orders.  Serves beverages, food, and deserts as ordered.  Ensures guests are satisfied with their dining experience in a professional manner and accordance with Shoney’s procedures, policies, and established standards.

PRIMARY ACTIVITIES

  • Serves guests in accordance with Shoney’s procedures with the goal of providing excellent guest services.
  • Possesses knowledge of all menu and food bar products.
  • Takes guest orders and assists in answering any questions pertaining to menu or food bar items.
  • Provides guest services in a professional, friendly and courteous manner at all times. 
  • Writes guest check and places order with kitchen.
  • Prepares and serves beverages/deserts as ordered by guest.  
  • Serves food order in timely manner.  Ensures order is correct and monitor’s food quality prior to serving it to the guest.
  • Ensures guests have all items needed to complete their meal including but not limited to silverware, condiments etc.
  • Follows up with guest to see if meal is satisfactory and if they are in need of additional service.
  • Provides guests with guest check in a timely manner.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area according to Shoney’s established standards.
  • Performs additional job tasks as assigned.
  • Contributes to maximizing profits through controlling waste.
  • Maintains familiarity with and follows all policies and procedures of the job as a Shoney’s Team Member.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Assists with food bar duties as needed.
  • Assists with table clean up as needed.
  • Works as a team with other restaurant co-workers, maintaining a positive, professional and courteous demeanor during the work shift. 
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by the manager in charge of the shift, in a professional and courteous manner. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

 REQUIRED 

  • Basic communication skills sufficient to understand and implement instructions. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively and professionally with all guests and co-workers at all times.
  •  Ability to organize work, manage multiple job duties and maintain composure during peak operational periods
  • Preferred if has prior experience in food service and/or preparation
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
                
    Continuously utilizes speech, hearing, near vision, eye/hand coordination, color definition, manual/bi-manual dexterity.
  • Frequently stands, walks, lifts and/or carries, pushes and pulls up to 20 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to balance tray carrying food and drinks while walking. 
  • Occasionally lifts and/or carries up to 30 pounds, reaches, works closely with others. 
  • Occasionally utilizes sense of smell, far vision, pushes/pulls, bends/stoops/twists at the waist, squats, kneels, walks on uneven surfaces, works around chemicals/cleaners.  

WORK CONDITIONS/HOURS 

  • Hours vary according to assigned shift, including weekends and/or holidays, opening or closing. 
  •  Normal restaurant working conditions.  Frequently exposed to heat and cold
