Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Windows Server Administrator, Server to join our Windows Server Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise Windows Server environments, server hardware, and virtualization platforms. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining secure, reliable, and compliant infrastructure in a fast-paced 24x7 environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and support Windows Server operating systems and x86 server hardware.
  • Perform server installations, upgrades, patching, configuration, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server, hardware, and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and service restoration activities.
  • Support security remediation efforts, including vulnerability assessments, patch deployment, and corrective actions.
  • Assist with audit preparation, compliance requirements, and infrastructure documentation.
  • Monitor server performance, availability, and capacity using enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, and application teams to support business operations.
  • Provide technical support and communicate complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; OR
  • Four (4) years of job-related experience; OR
  • Two (2) years of job-related experience plus an Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of four (4) years of server administration or related infrastructure experience.
  • Strong experience supporting Windows Server environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting server hardware, operating systems, and infrastructure issues.
  • Experience with security vulnerability remediation, patch management, and corrective actions.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Windows Server
    • x86 Server Hardware
    • Server monitoring and administration tools
    • Infrastructure troubleshooting and performance analysis
    • Security and patch management processes

Required Competencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in enterprise server and infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware and/or Hyper-V.
  • Experience with Ansible or other automation tools.
  • Working knowledge of network technologies and infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting large-scale server environments and enterprise system implementations.

Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • CompTIA Security+

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced, multi-platform enterprise environment supporting critical business operations.
  • Team supports more than 2,000 servers, primarily virtualized on VMware with some physical infrastructure.
  • Requires participation in a rotating on-call schedule (typically one week every five weeks).
  • Must be available for occasional evening, weekend, and off-hours work.
  • Must be able to travel to the Columbia, South Carolina office location when on call to support business-critical incidents.
