$100,000–$135,000 Per Year
Senior Water/Wastewater Design-Build Engineer (PE)
Location: Sarasota / Lakewood Ranch / Tampa, FL
Salary: $100,000–$135,000
Reports to: President
Job Type: Full-time
A day in this role
You start your morning reviewing 3D corridor alignments and process layouts, fine-tuning AutoCAD Civil 3D models for a reclaimed water transmission project. By mid-morning, you’re guiding a pilot study on an emerging treatment technology—collecting data, validating performance, and shaping a decision-support tool the client will rely on for years. After lunch, you lead a progress call as Project Manager on a design-build effort, coordinating with subconsultants, vendors, and client stakeholders to align scope, schedule, and budget. You close the day refining permit applications and technical reports for a wastewater facility upgrade while mentoring junior engineers on modeling workflows and QA/QC.
What you will lead
- Own or oversee engineering calculations, assessments, studies, master planning, hydraulic models, construction drawings, specifications, permits, and technical reports.
- Serve as Project Manager or Technical Lead based on project scale and complexity.
- Direct pilot studies; manage GIS/CADD/modeling tasks; support CEI services and stakeholder engagement.
- Advance business development: proposals, presentations, schedules, budgets, and cost evaluations.
- Track regulatory developments and scout innovative technologies to elevate project outcomes.
- Coordinate seamlessly with clients, subconsultants, vendors, and internal teams to deliver quality work.
- Contribute to project/task management, internal operations, and collaborative team initiatives.
- Travel occasionally across Southwest to West Central Florida for site visits, pilots, and client meetings.
Grow your impact
Mentored by senior professionals, you will deepen your expertise across planning, pilot testing, modeling, design, design-build, asset management, digital tech, and construction-phase engineering. Expect to influence:
- Innovative “OneWater” strategies and pilot demonstrations.
- Best practices and decision-support tools informed by real operational data.
- Applications of artificial intelligence and collaborative delivery.
- Sustainable water/wastewater/reclaimed water designs and LIDs.
- Asset management, CMOM programs, and “smart utility” consulting.
