DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The duties of employees in this class involve responsibility during an assigned shift for the overall efficient operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant, including the facilities for the activated sludge process and solids disposal. The work is performed under general supervision of a higher-level operator. Supervision is exercised over the work of subordinate operators. The incumbent performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications at time of application. Either:
• Possession of a Grade 3A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate AND two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant. • Possession of a valid Grade 3A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation AND full-time permanent competitive status for a period of twenty-four (24) months as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator in the Oneida County Department of Water Quality & Water Pollution Control.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Possession of a valid New York State drivers license at time of appointment. License must remain valid throughout appointment.
