Senior Transportation Project Engineer

Senior Project Engineer – Providence, RIThe Senior Project Engineer will provide technical leadership and supervision on complex transportation projects, ensuring all work meets contractual scope, budget, and schedule requirements.Primary ResponsibilitiesLead the technical supervision of transportation components for complex projects.Coordinate technical activities among design disciplines and sub‑consultants.Develop 3‑D roadway design models using AutoCAD Civil3D in accordance with RIDOT standards and workflows.Prepare plan sets, special provisions, and cost estimates for roadway design projects.Assist Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and progress reporting.Develop technical approaches, schedules, and fee estimates for proposals on large or complex projects.Create technical solutions for roadway projects by applying engineering knowledge and best practices.Maintain positive client relationships.Participate in developing technical approaches for proposals.Supervise and mentor less experienced staff; provide daily guidance and quality checks.Manage a direct report, including workload planning, timesheet and expense approval, and career development support.Maintain quality control by reviewing designs, calculations, and assumptions on projects.Prepare and deliver oral presentations to the public, municipal boards, clients, and professional associations.QualificationsBachelor's of Science in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline.Professional Engineering License or work toward licensure within one year in a state where Apex performs work, or ability to obtain licensure by reciprocity.Five or more years of roadway design experience.Strong written communication skills for technical memoranda, reports, proposals, contracts, and subcontract scopes.Knowledge of RIDOT plan set requirements and the RIDOT design process is a plus.Experience with Complete Streets is a strong plus.Valid U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record.BenefitsCompany‑subsidized medical and dental coverage.Company‑paid life, short‑term, and long‑term disability insurance.401(k) match and tuition assistance.Cross‑training and exposure to diverse projects.Performance‑based bonuses and incentives.Opportunity to work with the best and brightest in the industry.Being part of a 2,000+ employee national firm with 70+ locations across the U.S.We believe in equality for all and celebrate the diversity and differences of our employees, customers, and communities.
