    Job DescriptionWSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Transmission Line Project Engineer, to be based from our Boise, Idaho office location. We offer a hybrid or remote workstyle.This OpportunityProvides technical leadership and guidance for the planning, design, and delivery of high‑voltage overhead transmission line projects. Tasks may include research, design, concept development, planning, client interactions, business and proposal development, construction support, and staff mentorship. Supports project development through disciplined engineering practices, coordination across multidisciplinary teams, and adherence to established quality and safety standards. Ensures responsibilities are executed with a level of technical excellence, clarity, and functional performance that meets or exceeds industry expectations.Your ImpactThe successful candidate will be able to lead, support, and coordinate the following:Project Engineering LeadershipLead and execute the engineering of transmission projects up to 765kVLead and/or support the initial project execution layout to ensure an efficient and effective project plan has been establishedResponsible for creating and maintaining a project scheduleConduct weekly or bi‑weekly project meetings to outline upcoming deliverables and tasks with the responsible personnel identified clearlyCoordinate with clients on project status and support project meetings as necessaryMaintain project workflow and thorough communication across multi‑disciplinary projects, both internal and external to WSPForecast upcoming project requirements to assist in resource planningFacilitate and adhere to WSP's QA/QC proceduresParticipate in industry conferences, both internal and external, to improve professional growth while fostering knowledge transfer to colleaguesDemonstrate transmission line design expertise pertaining to PLS‑CADD, structure staking, foundations, assembly drawings, structure loading, material procurement, construction specifications, construction methods, construction estimates, and construction supportLead project teams of varying sizesTravel to client offices/field/vendor facilities, as neededProject Manager (PM) SupportSupport the Project Manager with project status reportsWork with PMs to develop scope, schedule, and budget for new projectsWork with PMs to identify out‑of‑scope items and support work scope variancesProvide weekly or bi‑weekly project updates and project forecastingLead and/or support the PM with meetings with clients, both in person and remotelyDevelop client relationships, allowing WSP the opportunity to position ourselves to win future workDepartment SupportSupport resource forecastingSupport recruitment effortsProvide business improvement methodologies and proceduresSupport staff performance and technical development with department leadershipContribute to the business planning effortsExercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and proceduresPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needsWho You AreBachelor's degree in engineering, or closely related discipline (or equivalent experience)10+ years of relevant post‑education experience in the transmission engineering field managing projects and leading multi‑disciplinary teamsEngineer license required (multi‑state preferred)Professional Engineering (PE) licensureUnderstanding of the NESC, RUS, and/or GO‑95Strong understanding of transmission line fundamentals and PLS‑CADD operationStrong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnelExperience using the Microsoft Office software suiteProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policiesPreferred QualificationsField program planning, management, and executionSubcontractor managementCost estimating and schedulingField experienceMBA degree from an accredited universityInvolvement in technical societies (IEEE, CIGRE, ASCE…)Experience using ArcGIS, AutoCAD/MicroStation, Foundation Design Software (FAD Tools, SHAFT, LPILE)POLE and TOWER experienceAbout WSPWSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
