WSP is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Design Engineer to support major utility and energy clients. This role is fully in‑office at the client site in Rochester, NY, Buffalo, NY, or Binghamton, NY, and requires daily onsite presence.Your ImpactProvide transmission line design and engineering consulting services to major power and energy utility clients, independent power producers, and energy project developers.Design electrical transmission facilities, including line layout, foundations, structure configuration, structures, insulation, and conductor specification.Prepare project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation.Deliver accurate and thorough substation and control house designs that meet industry standards and specifications, good engineering practice, and excellent constructability.Review internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice, and constructability.Make and maintain appropriate commitments to project teams and coordinate design activities with multidisciplinary project team members.Maintain good working relationships with internal groups that support projects.Maintain good working relationships with material suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders that affect quality, schedule, and cost.Collect, compile, and analyze data related to substation components, equipment specifications for procurement package development and pricing, IFR/IRC design and review processes, and IEEE/NESC Standards/NERC regulations for design work.Participate in incorporating future‑ready techniques, concept development, operating strategies, and various design requirements with equipment sizing and cabling, AC/DC panel design, and conduit and trenching design strategies that account for safety and functionality of end users, systems, and infrastructure.Follow client‑mandated drug/alcohol testing policy, including possible random testing.Meet client approval of candidates put forth by WSP; position is located at the client office.Who You Are5+ years of experience in transmission line design within utility or power delivery environments.Relevant experience in transmission line design and a working knowledge of PLSCadd.Engineering degree (Civil, Electrical, or related).EIT required / PE eligibility strongly preferred.Ability to work full‑time onsite at the client office in Rochester or Binghamton, NY.Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in Engineering.BenefitsWSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on health and financial stability throughout the employee's career, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, retirement savings, paid sick leave, paid vacation, paid parental leave, and paid time off for bereavement, voting, and naturalization proceedings.CompensationExpected salary (all locations): $94,300 – $155,000.
